As an exclusive program, Lunches With Lyal reserves the right to deny any user from participating in the program. By answering in detail (and truthfully), you can prevent yourself from being on this list.
While we’re gearing up to making Lunches with Lyal fully public, we’re still seeing a ton of buzz in response to the announcement. Previous attendees are coming out of the wood work with quotes:
Rob Lewis (TechVibes) said: “Without the insight I gained in that hour, I’d never be the man I am today.”
David Gratton (ProjectOpus) said: “Before I met him [sic], I drove around the city in an SUV. Now I have the confidence to drive across the bridge on my Vespa. Thanks Lyal!”
Danny Robinson (Strutta) said: “I’m still working out my feelings for Lyal, but they’re certainly something. Almost tingly.”
Boris Mann (Bootup Labs) said: “Someone should bottle that man’s sweat.”
Rusty T. Shackleford (Venture Capitalist) said: “If it has Lyal’s name attached to it, it’s gold. If I could pick his mind for an hour, I’d only pick winners.”
There you have it folks. The acclaim is universal. You too can get a piece of this action. Registrations open tonight at Launch Party Vancouver.
Not everyone is born to greatness. Sometimes you have to make it happen for yourself. I’m not one of these people, but I’m very caring and empathetic, so here are my three tips for becoming better:
1) Never Be Wrong - This is my #1 tip. People don’t respect losers. People don’t respect failures. Why would you ever admit to being one?
2) Find A Flaw, Exploit it - Every challenge has a weak spot. Every person standing in your way may be an obstacle, but they also have things they care about. Your enemies are trying to prevent you from greatness, don’t back down. Escalate where appropriate. Someone cuts you off, pour house paint on their car. Someone gets the job you like? Steal their pet.
3) Get 15 Hours of Sleep a Night - Scientists are wrong. Sleep more, end of story.
That’s it. If only #4, Be Born Lyal Avery, was an option for everyone, tips like this wouldn’t be necessary.
I’d say my only flaw is that I’m a little bit too humble. It’s downright embarrassing trying to speak about how great you are (especially when it’s true!).
So I’m going to let another do the talking for me. Daniel P. Robinson, CEO of Strutta on Lunches With Lyal:
While yachting last year, I realized that the one thing missing in my life was an open and honest feeling of contribution. I immediately canceled my skeet shooting vacation, flew back home, and started working with Maura on how I could really affect change in the world.
Frequently, people ask me how I can be such a unanimous success in the industry. Do I have secrets to share? Can I rub off on you? You bet I do, and I think I can!
Advice from THE Lyal Avery is no longer only for world famous CEOs, dignitaries, and religious leaders. Instead, I will be auctioning off lunches with myself.
Some say an hour with me is worth more than an MBA - I say it’s worth more.
The first public auction will be held at Launch Party this coming May 21st. A portion of the proceeds from the auction will go to ensuring Launch Party can continue to bring the best events to Vancouver.
